About BridgeMill
History & Character — BridgeMill has been one of Canton's defining residential addresses since development began in 1999 on approximately 1,500 acres near the intersection of Bells Ferry Road and Sixes Road. The community takes its name from Steel's Bridge, a historic crossing over the Etowah River that once stood on the land. Built primarily between 1999 and 2006, BridgeMill grew into one of the largest master-planned communities in Cherokee County, with more than 2,820 properties ranging from cottages and townhomes to large single-family homes and fully custom estates. In 2020, the Heron's Pointe townhome community added a modern multi-story residential phase within the BridgeMill footprint, keeping the neighborhood active well into its second decade of development. The community is governed by the BridgeMill Community Association Inc. (BMCA), a homeowner-managed organization with a full-time, on-site professional property manager and an elected volunteer board — an operational structure that keeps the neighborhood consistently well-maintained across its more than 150 acres of green space.
Amenities — BridgeMill delivers an amenity package that is genuinely difficult to match anywhere in the Cherokee County market. The BridgeMill Athletic Club (BMAC) serves as the community's resort-style hub, featuring a two-acre aquatic center with dual water slides, a waterfall island, splash fountain, lap lanes, and diving boards. The tennis program is one of the most extensive in the area, with 25 courts including eight clay courts, certified on-site pros, a tennis shop, and active ALTA adult and junior programs. Pickleball courts, basketball courts, a full fitness center, aerobics studio, pilates and yoga classes, and multiple playgrounds round out a facility that genuinely supports residents at every stage of life. Featherstone's restaurant inside the clubhouse adds a dining option steps from the course. Importantly, BMAC membership is optional and separate from the neighborhood HOA — buyers should factor this in when evaluating the full cost of ownership at different price points within BridgeMill.
Golf — The Golf Club at BridgeMill is the centerpiece of the community and one of the most credentialed courses in the Atlanta market. The 18-hole championship course was designed by Desmond Muirhead — the architect behind Mission Hills and a longtime consultant to Jack Nicklaus — and Georgia's own 1987 Masters Champion Larry Mize, who brought a player's perspective to every element of the layout. The par-72 course stretches 7,110 yards from the championship tees and was carved into the rolling North Georgia terrain with five sets of tees and a variety of challenges designed not to overemphasize any single aspect of the game. The 16th hole, with its true island green, is among the most recognized holes in the Atlanta area. The course opened in late 1998 and continues to rank as one of the strongest tests of golf in the region.
